Design-Led Aluminium Systems Enabling Generous Glazing
Granville Place at 38 Cowper Street, Granville, is a standout example of contemporary urban design shaping the future of Western Sydney. Built by Parkview Constructions the mixed-use precinct combines a vibrant retail podium with more than 600 residential apartments, unified through a strong architectural vision grounded in transparency, scale and connection.
To realise this design intent, Alucity Architectural Product Supply and their customer Supplied Holdings selected Darley Aluminium’s CityView systems to deliver a refined façade expression that emphasises clean lines, generous glazing and uninterrupted sightlines to achieve a cohesive façade treatment that enhances both liveability and visual impact.
The carefully considered combination of sliding doors, recessed awning windows, and commercial framing systems played a pivotal role in delivering expansive glazing, natural light, acoustic performance and long-term resilience – all essential to a project of this scale and profile.
The scope included the CityView 100mm Single-Glazed Architectural Sliding Door, CityView 100mm/150mm front-glazed commercial framing paired with a 45mm commercial door, and CityView 100mm high-performance recessed awning windows – chosen to provide a cohesive aesthetic, durability for heavy use in a mixed-use precinct, and integration with the podium retail elevations
“We chose the CityView systems for Granville Place because they delivered architectural drama at scale while meeting our fabrication and installation program – the 100/150mm commercial framing gave the retail façades a robust, premium look without compromising on fit-out timelines,” said Jeff Mant, Project Manager at Alucity.
“On the apartment elevations the CityView sliding doors and recessed awnings balanced large glazed areas with proven performance; they simplified handovers and gave residents generous sightlines and natural ventilation.”
Darley’s CityView range is engineered in Australia and the sliding door and awning products used at Granville Place have been tested to AS2047, which helped the project team meet compliance and acoustic/air-infiltration targets while keeping system interfaces neat for the architect’s vision. The result is a consistent, high-quality aluminium solution that supports the precinct’s retail activation on the podium and the liveability of the towers above.
